When it comes to cancer, an early diagnosis is often the most important aspect of long-term survivability. Diagnosing and staging cancer involves a multidisciplinary team of professionals that includes primary care physicians, surgeons, medical oncologists, radiologists, pathologists, and others.
These professionals rely on advanced diagnostic procedures – ranging from blood work and biopsies to detailed MRI and CT scans – to help identify the type and stage of cancer. At Sovah Health, our full suite of diagnostic services are offered at our main hospital campuses as well as the Sovah Imaging Centers which are our outpatient facilities conveniently located in Danville and Chatham.
If you are looking for excellent cancer care with a focus on comfort, privacy, and convenience, you will discover just the right touch at the Sovah Health Cancer Centers. Our cancer centers are nationally accredited with the Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons.
Sovah Health Cancer Centers offer both radiation treatment and chemotherapy services. Hematology services are also provided for patients with certain blood disorders. All of our departments work closely together to coordinate your care with chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and other support services-all under one roof. Screenings are designed to detect the most common cancers at the earliest stage. Not all cancers have a screening test. Learn more about Cancer Screening Recommendations.
Beginning with early detection from cancer screenings to diagnosis, treatment and recovery follow-up, Sovah Health and our two outpatient imaging centers, provide the technology necessary for evaluating cancer in your body. From our board certified and fellowship-trained radiologists to various accreditations, quality of the interpretation and imaging service is a priority. We use the Picture Archiving Communication System (PACS) which provides the referring physician access to the imaging pictures and results of testing within minutes of radiologist interpretation.
Our full-range of imaging procedures include: Diagnostic X-Ray, 2D/3D Mammography, Nuclear Medicine, Computed Tomography (CT), Ultrasound, Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Positron Emission Tomography (PET) and Interventional Radiology (IR). Each of these tools plays a unique role in diagnosis and staging of cancer. During treatment, these tests help evaluate how the cancerous tumor/disease has responded to radiation therapy, chemotherapy or surgery. Learn more about our imaging services.
